Gen Y has often times been called the start-up generation. Apparently we seem to have a natural drive for creating work out of our passions. Maybe it’s because we saw mom and dad slaving away in a cubicle. Maybe it’s because we’re coming of age during an uncertain economy and the rise of the independent workforce.
Whatever the case may be, Gen Y is showing the world that when life gives you lemons you make lemonade. Below you’ll find a list of some awesome Gen Y entrepreneurs who are spreading the love and inspiring their generation.
Blogger, author, speaker, life coach, and yoga teacher? Jenny Blake is truly something to aspire too. She’s one of my favorites simply because it was her blog that inspired me to start getting my shit together, and I’m sure several others have felt a fire lit under their asses when they encounter this Gen Y mogul. She’s genuine, she’s a hard worker and she has set out to help an entire generation.
Internet marketer extraordinaire, Justice Wordlaw always has something new up his sleeve (his latest project being a podcast!). His mission is to help individuals with all their online marketing needs. He also has a special place in his heart for Gen Y. Keep an eye on this one, he’s going places!
(P.S. Make sure to check out my podcast interview with Justice, How to Be a Freelance Writer with Amanda Abella!)
The blogger behind Life Without Pants, this rockstar entrepreneur also runs a full on branding service for individuals and companies. His inspiring blog helps others in our generation get up and go after their dreams. He tackles hard hitting issues for a generation full of entrepreneurs – from overcoming your fear to being more productive.
Shannyn may be relatively new on the online scene in comparison to the others on this list, but boy is she making an impact! She is the blogger behind Frugal Beautiful, a blog dedicated to personal finance for women. She’s also a writer and a social media consultant with a very big heart for giving back. Through her blog she has not only been able to quit her day job, she was also able to raise money (over $700 to be exact) to donate to the pug rescue that saved her dog. Oh yeah, and she’s got a podcast! Personal finance blogger, female entrepreneur and an animal lover? Yeah, she’s definitely on my Google Reader.
Sassy and smart, Ashleigh Ambirge is an online entrepreneur with a kick ass blog you may have heard of, The Middle Finger Project. She’s honest, she’s blunt, she’s got a larger than life personality, and she knows what she’s talking about. If you want to take your side hustle to the next level, start taking notes.
