So here goes the first installment! Check back every Friday for updates on health, side hustles, money, and Gen Y across the web.
Freelance Writing Side Hustle
The month of June was a little nuts for me so I am way behind on the side hustle. I also have a couple of new editors and lots of work to do this weekend.
I’m currently writing for Alternative Media, a company based out of Australia that creates blogs for budgeting and personal finance. Some of my previous pieces for them include Death to Debt: Tips for Paying Off Student Loans and Money Saving Tactics for the Work Week.
I also wrote a guest post over at Generation Y Rants entitled The New Face of Careers, Job Hunting, and Networking. It’s all about how social media is changing the way we do business, find work, and embark on awesome opportunities.

Health and Fitness
You should all be very proud of me. Because after having been flaky about the gym throughout most of June due trips, jury duty, and a new job, I not only had 1 but 2 training sessions this week after work! Did it kick my ass? Absolutely. But it was well worth it. I swear regular exercise just makes me feel better all around.
I now have a weekly schedule and I plan on sticking to it. I also picked up a magazine for runners explaining why the 5k is America’s favorite race. Consequently I have decided to add a 5k to the Life List. Specifically the one in New York City because I hear that’s the best and most entertaining one around (waiters running out of restaurants, people in costume, and musicians on the streets? Hell yes!). Disney World would be pretty awesome (and much closer) as well. Of course when I’ll start training remains to be seen because I am not anywhere near being in shape.

Gen Y Across the Web
If you’ve been keeping up with GMW then you know that we had some great Gen-Y ebooks come out this week. The first book, Share or Die: Youth in Recession, is a collection of stories about how Gen Y is changing the traditional work and life mold by sharing. The second book, Coming of Age in a Crap Economy, focuses on what this recession has meant for our generation and what we can do about it. Both book are great reads and really give some insight on our generation and the situation at hand.
Liz Funk, the author of Coming of Age in a Crap Economy and my new digital entreprenuership hero, has even inspired me to jumpstart my freelance writing and maybe even write an ebook of my own. When that comes into fruition I will be sure to let you all know!
Also, I want to extend a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to one of my favorite bloggers, Jenny Blake. In a recent post entitled I’m a Free Agent: From Six Figures to Suitcase, Jenny announced that she will be leaving her full time job at Google to pursue entrepreneurship. This girl has got big things happening and I’m sure she will do a stellar job! Check out her blog, Life After College, for more.
