I have good news and I have bad news. The good news is that I am slowly but surely getting my abs back and I’m gaining strength, both good signs that my exercise regiment is actually working. The bad news is I still have horrible eating habits. Case and point: I definitely ate not one, but two, friend spinach empanadas today (at least they were spinach?). Weight has never been a big issue for me (knock on wood) but I don’t even want to know how much cholesterol I injected into my body with that “meal”.
I’ve been trying to cultivate a healthy lifestyle for almost a year now and while I have made some progress – attending my first few actual yoga classes, getting a trainer, less drinking, no more smoking, actually sleeping – sometimes I need some inspiration. A little push in the right direction if you will, especially when it comes to what I should be eating.
As with most things pertaining to a kitchen or the human body I’m completely clueless. And so i figured I would go on the hunt for some nifty fitness blogs and sites. Below you will find a list of what I found.
Health and Fitness Blogs You Need to Read
The first thing I noticed about this blog is how freakin’ beautiful it is! The second thing I noticed is how amazing all the food looks. Seriously, how tantalizing is that pizza? And guess what? It’s all vegan! I personally have never tried eating vegan, but I’ve been meaning to give it a go for a week or two. Maybe now that I found some recipes I can actually try it.
Oh She Glows also chronicles the author’s fitness routines as she tackles new work outs and shares her experiences with her readers.
Definitely a new fave on Google Reader.
I always love finding blogs written by kick ass strong women- and this one is definitely one of them! If you need an extra kick in the ass to get your fitness going don’t hesitate to look through Sandy Ibrahim’s blog. She offers great advice and even better motivation for getting as fit as you want to be. She doesn’t stop at fitness though, Sandy depicts the human condition through the eyes of fitness which gives her blog a personal feel that anyone, whether they are already fit or not, can relate to.
Food Not Fuss provides the perfect antidote for the busy lifestyle of the modern world – healthy cooking made quick and easy! The author doesn’t necessarily provide recipes, but rather ideas for healthy eating as she shares her journey of living a healthier lifestyle. She even lists a wide variety of options with her recipes so that you can make any meal your own.
Ok, I just love Perez Hilton (Cubans represent!). I’ll be honest though, when I first heard of his fitness site I thought it going to be more about celebrities than fitness. Much to my surprise he’s actually got great content for getting fit and staying fit, and of course it’s all got the Perez Hilton twist. So if you’re looking for some fun with your fitness don’t hesitate to check it out!
I’m not much of a runner, in fact I barely do any cardio and mostly stick to weights, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t give it a try! That also doesn’t mean I can’t get yummy recipes, jam to banging workout a music, and read an all around enjoyable fitness blog which is why I’m happy that I found Sio’n The Run.
A fabulous blog that also happens to be entirely pink, The Fitnessista mixes food, fashion, fitness and family to make one hell of a fitness blog. A personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and nutritional advisor, the author of this blog shares her sincere love of fitness with her readers. The reason I love this blog? She has an insane list of recipes that everyone can enjoy regardless of their taste!
This blog is, indeed, the mother lode of everything yoga. From tips and tricks to great videos you can follow, this blog will help your mind, body, and soul get fit.
That’s all for now, folks! Writing this post made me hungry. I guess it’s time to try one of those healthy recipes!
