And I told her that being a counselor isn't about your life experiences, it's about helping people navigate through their own emotional and mental terrains and helping them heal and come out whole on the other side (well, not in those words but the general gist is that I don't need to have had a traumatic childhood to help people through theirs). Also, unless you're just going to start calling yourself a life coach, you get training, so you learn how to reach out to others and help them. So it's not just some random THING.
