I have big news.
I mean really big.
So big that I’m afraid I’m going to jinx it if I say anything.
Screw it. Here goes.
I have co-founded a writing agency with my partner in crime Caroline Pollock and we’re about to rock the shit out of the internet.
We have spent the last week putting things together, organizing our schedules, and making plans for what will hopefully (through some serious hard work and determination) become a source of income for the both of us.
And so, without further ado, I present to you Digital Zen Ink for all of your writing, blogging, social media, and translation needs.
So why did I decide to collaborate with another writer? I’m glad you asked.
10 Reasons You Should Collaborate with Others
1. Accountability. Since it’s not just about you anymore there’s an added sense of need for getting your work done.
2. Two heads are better than one. One person might be better at marketing while the other may be better at writing proposals.
3. It forces you to interact with others. This is especially important for people who work from home full time.
4. Split the work. There’s a lot to running a business and it can easily be overwhelming for just one person.
5. You can cover more ground.
6. You are helping someone else achieve their goals.
7. Having more than one person look over the work can increase quality.
8. Improved focus. Division of labor allows each party to do what they do best.
9. Time management becomes easier.
10. They have clients, you have clients. Two audiences come together to make one bigger base.
Grand Opening Book Giveaway!
In celebration of launching our co-op efforts we will be hosting a giveaway of one of the best freelancing books around, The Money Book for Freelancers, Part-Timers, and the Self-Employed.
It is because of this book that I started getting my finances from freelancing in order. In my opinion, it is a staple if you want to be successful at a side hustle or running your own business.
So what do you have to do to enter? By doing one or all of the following.
1. Tweet about Digital Zen Ink. Make sure to mention @amandaabella or @serial_writer so we know you have tweeted. (1 entry for each Tweet)
2. Follow Digital Zen Ink on Twitter. (1 entry)
3. Blog about Digital Zen Ink. This can be an entry about digital entrepreneurship or Gen Y side hustles. (3 entries)
4. Send out an email about Digital Zen Ink. You can find a template here. (5 entries).
The winner will be picked after my co-worker consults her magic eight ball and I do my thing at Random.org.
The deadline to enter is Monday May 2, 2011.
Good luck!
Congratulations on the new venture. It sounds very exciting! I’m wishing you the very best of luck. Following Digital Zen Ink on Twitter now.
Looks like a great book!
Not sure if this would appeal to you, but I’m currently looking for guest blogger for my blog — http://www.ofwoodsandwords.com — for the next couple weeks and if you’d like to guest blog about your new freelance business that would be great!
